Jimmy Hogerty
Lead Engineer
About Jimmy
Jimmy (he/him) is a Kansas City native and Blackhawk's lone West Coast operative, reporting for duty from San Francisco's Inner Richmond, where he lives with his wife KC and their cats Milo and Oreo. A reformed B2B salesperson who taught himself to code, Jimmy is the kind of engineer who can effectively communicate with teammates, see pain points, and code up scalable solutions. He takes his coffee seriously, his bike rides uphill, and his music loud — and he's been told he has opinions about all three. When he's not at the keyboard, you'll find him cycling the city's hills, cooking something for him and KC, plotting his next trip abroad, or explaining to anyone who'll listen why the espresso could've been better.
Jimmy at Blackhawk
As Lead Engineer, Jimmy is one of the people who are quietly responsible for a lot of the “wait, this got way easier” moments around Blackhawk. He builds the internal tools and systems the team relies on every day — and his favorite trick is taking a messy, real-world process nobody wants to deal with and turning it into software that just works. Thanks to a former life in sales, he's fluent in both engineer and human, which means he can ship the thing and explain why it matters. He came on full-time in 2026 and has been steadily making the platform faster, cleaner, and a little less held-together-with-tape ever since.
